Here are the steps to make a quick and delicious Bloody Mary
First off you need to start with fresh, quality ingredients. The most important is the juice. I used a new juice from Natalies Juice Company. We have been selling their fresh juices for a while, but this is our first time trying this Carrot, Tomato, and Celery juice.
What I found using this juice, is with the carrot, it adds a light sweetness you may not be used to in your bloody mary. The sweetness goes great with the spicyness of some of the other ingredients.
Let’s Get Started
First I start off with a pint glass (or larger) filled with ice. In this case we used a mason jar because that’s what I had to work with. So add 4-5 oz of your preferred juice. Again use a quality juice, with nothing artificial, and you will come out with a great cocktail.
Next I add a teaspoon of prepared horseradish.(I use more, because I like it spicy. Add more later if you like). 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce goes in next. 1/2 Teaspoon of celery salt is the next ingredient along with 1/2 teaspoon of fresh cracked black pepper. Add 1/2 fresh squeezed lemon and we are almost there. 1-2 dashes of you favorite hot sauce. I used Moe Mountain hot sauce. This hot sauce has great heat and adds a nice smokeyness to your cocktail. And it’s local, and you know how we love local goods. Finally 1oz of you favorite vodka and we are so close
Now the fun part
There are lots of great “Garnishes” for your bloody. Everyone knows of the old standard celery, but there are lots of better things to top off your cocktail. I’ve tried them all including olives, baby corn, and even bacon. My favorites are Shrimp, and Jalapeno Dill Pickle Spears from our friends at Perry’s Pickles. (Great Local company)
The Bottom Line
Basically have some fun with your recipes. This is just a guideline to get you started. Have fun with it; think outside the box. There is no wrong way to make your cocktails. And if you have any ideas send them our way. We’d love to hear from you.
